Assyrian/Chaldean Language Resources

This unit of work will allow students to:

• Communicate basic personal information in “Assyrian”.
• Identify some cultural aspects of the Assyrian community by engaging in a simple conversation related to personal information.
• Understand how food and celebration are part of our heritage and cultural identity.
• Know and understand the cultural aspects of the family role, the importance of social gathering, and the value of celebration.
• Develop an awareness of the connections between language and culture.
• Practise their communication skills and boost their confidence in the language.

Sample unit of work addressing the theme of Body Parts for Year 1.

This unit of work will allow students to develop the knowledge about various body parts (both internal and external), five senses, how to take care of their bodies, healthy practices etc. Students will also learn and use vocabulary from the Assyrian and Chaldean Language throughout the unit, which they can use in other lessons.

Teaching and learning activities are designed to help students construct understanding for deeper learning. A variety of tasks will be included, both in theory and practice to ensure students get a mix of activities that cater to their needs.

Sample unit of work addressing the theme of Farm Animals for kindergarten level. 

This unit of work will allow students to develop the knowledge about a farm (what it looks like), farmer (his family and duties) and various farm animals and their physical features (their babies, colour and size), sounds they make, diet and where they live.

Students will also learn and use vocabulary from the Assyrian and Chaldean Language throughout the unit, which they can use in other lessons.

Sample unit of work addressing the theme of Family for kindergarten level. 

This unit of work will allow students to develop knowledge about their families (family structure, family titles, mother’s family, father’s family, grandparents, family physical description and their ages). Students will also explore the importance of the immediate and extended family and different relationships among all family members.  Students will also learn and use vocabulary from the Assyrian and Chaldean Language throughout the unit, which they can use in other lessons.
