自己紹介から、進行中の動作について説明することができる、行き先を確かめて、目的の駅へ行くことができる、折り合わない内容を説明することができるなど幅広く、また基本スキットと応用スキットにも分かれている。
高校生活ではあるが、小学校高学年でも、十分にわかりやすくなっている。
登場人物が高校生のため、レベルによっては題材をより複雑にもできる。
「知っている」より、「話せる」かを生徒と向き合うと効果的。

教科書の音読を録音したものを流します。漢字の読み方を確認した後、意味のわかりにくい言葉の意味調べをしました。別教材の「すがたをかえる大豆(言葉の意味調べ）」を参照。
その後、教科書に出てきていた、大豆からできた食品を書きあげていきました。

インストラクション
- 先生が下の文を読んでいる間、生徒は聞きながら要点のメモをとる。
- 成田東京間カードを一枚もらって、その人になる。そして、自分がどの行き方で成田に行くか、決める。
- ペアになって、まず1名が、「成田まで〜ようにしていきます。なぜなら、私はお金が〜しかないし、時間が〜だし、年をとっているから、簡単な方法でいきたいからです。」など、自分の状況から、どの行き方を選んだか説明する。
- 1名が終わったらもう一人がする。
- クラス全体に、そのペアのそれぞれの状況や選択を話す。
＊カードは自分で好きなように書いてもいいし、教師があらかじめ決めておいて配布してもOK。
