This resource is based on a story about Raman, a well-behaved student who is struggling with his studies and feeling stressed. Observing his difficulties, his teacher takes the initiative to support and encourage him. Using a simple demonstration involving a bundle of sugarcane sticks, the teacher shows that a difficult task can become manageable when approached step by step. Through this experience, Raman gains confidence and learns the value of perseverance, consistent effort, and effective study habits. The resource develops students’ vocabulary, comprehension, speaking, grammar, and sentence-building skills while promoting resilience and positive learning behaviours.

Traditional Games of Tamils

In this unit of work students explore traditional Games played by Tamils. They include games played outdoors and indoors. Students are prepared to create questions in Tamil for the discussion to understand various traditional games around the world to be used in a role play media interview. The students are also guided to design a poster to introduce to the community about the various Tamil traditional games to be played on the fun day organised at the school.

This unit of work aims to deepen students’ understanding of Tamil culture by exploring traditional Tamil food, clothing, arts, and festivals, while developing the vocabulary and language skills needed to describe and express their preferences about these cultural aspects.
This unit of work is primarily designed for Stage 2 students at a beginner level of fluency; however, differentiation activities are incorporated throughout the unit of work to support and extend students with intermediate level fluency.
